Are Pine Creek Hollow Soy Candles 100% natural?
Some
Soy Candle Manufacturers will have you believe that soy candles are 100% natural, even though they have dye and synthetic
fragrance oil. This is simply not true. Pine Creek Hollow uses 100% soy wax, however, once you add dye and man made fragrance
oils, it is not 100% natural. The dye and fragrance makes up approx. 7% of the candle. The only time a soy candle will be
100% natural, is if it is undyed, and scented with pure essential oils, or no scent at all.
Are soy candles really soot
free? Again, this is simply not true. Soy
candles produce far less soot, but no candle is 100% soot free. However, soy candles produce NO TOXIC PETRO SOOT. This is
the soot produced from Petroleum based candles (paraffin) which contains many toxins, among them, benzene. Any time a wick
is left untrimmed in any candle, the wick does not perform properly and there may be a chance of some sooting being produced
on your jar. Are your wicks lead free?
Absolutely! We use only natural cotton and paper wicks in all of our
candles. No lead...no zinc...no metals of any kind! What is the clump on the end of my wick?
This is more commonly known as a 'mushroom'. What it actually is however, is a carbon build up, and is
quite common in scented candles. Always be sure to trim off the mushroom before relighting, or you may get sooting on
your jar! What
are the whitish areas on my soy candle?
You
will sometimes find what is called 'frosting' on your soy candles. It is most obvious on the darker colours.
It is simply a heat reaction to wax being melted and then resolidified. It is also commonly seen on chocolate bars...it is
just one of the unique characteristics of soy wax...it does not affect your candle in any way! You may notice frosting come
and go with the tempaerature changes of the seasons, and as the candle is being burned...
Are your candles hand made? Yes! I personally pour every single soy candle. Each one is made with
much care, and a lot of love!
Will a small candle scent a large room? Generally speaking, small candles will only scent small rooms, and
larger candles will scent larger rooms. This is because the scent comes from the melt pool itself...smaller melt pool...less
scent. Larger melt pool....more scent. There are, however, always exceptions to this rule. Some scents are more intense, and
even in a small tin candle, that scent may fill a larger room (example…Peaches & Cream, Strawberry,Pink Taffy) Can I burn my candle right to the bottom?
Never
under any circumstances burn your candle right to the bottom. Your container may break...(trust
me....I know!) Always discontinue use when 1/2" of wax is left on the bottom.
Is shipping expensive?
Unfortunately shipping can be quite costly. Ordering one candle can cost almost the same as ordering
5 lbs worth! So it is always suggested to order in quantity to make the shipping worth while. While the jar candles contain
8 and 9 ounces of wax, the weight of the jar itself, brings most of the jar candles to the 1 pound weight each!
